Years of working around loud machinery (Protect your ears)

I worked in a loud environment for many years. Foolishly, I thought it wasn't loud enough to damage my hearing, but I was wrong. By the time I noticed the tinnitus in my ears, I began to wear hearing protection, but the damage was done. Even after wearing protection, it seemed to get louder until it reached a plateau, which is where I'm at now. Thankfully, I no longer need to work in a loud environment.

I'd like to try DIY TENS Unit, for educational purposes.
